Crossovr Collective Brings New Perspective to HBCU Football Rivalry in NFL Network Special

Crossovr Collective, a production company specializing in creating impactful partnerships and content, is proud to produce the NFL Network’s television event, “The Godfather vs The Gunslinger.” The event aired on February 25th and showcased the 1984 matchup between two legendary HBCU football teams, Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils and Alcorn State Braves. The game featured two future NFL stars, Jerry Rice and Isiac Holt, and their respective coaches, Archie Cooley and Marino Casem.

The documentary takes viewers on a captivating journey through the historical significance of the 1984 showdown, and the impact these coaches and players had on the sport of football at large and their respective communities. It includes interviews with former players, coaches, and sports analysts, who share their insights on the players’ and coaches’ lives and careers.

Walt Brock and Stephen Rawlins, the co-founders of Crossovr Collective, are passionate about telling cultural stories that resonate with diverse audiences. They have extensive experience in the sports, entertainment, and marketing industries, and they take pride in providing high-level creative solutions, full production services, and brand development. Brock has worked with Oakland Raiders, UC Berkeley, and Columbia University, while Rawlins  has over a decade of experience in the marketing and entertainment industries.

NFL Media is celebrating Black History Month with special programming throughout February, including “The Indelible Legacy of Jimmy Raye,” which explores the story of Jimmy Raye, who broke color barriers and changed football forever in the 1960s. NFL 360 is the news anthology show of record and airs throughout the season, providing NFL players the opportunity to shine a light on the people, places, and moments that are important to them through in-depth documentary storytelling.

In addition to the documentary on “The Godfather vs The Gunslinger,” NFL Network’s Black History Month programming includes a week-long celebration of Black icons who have shaped the history of the NFL. The week’s programming includes a special premiere of NFL Inspire Change, a new season compilation of NFL City Life, and the second annual HBCU Legacy Bowl, showcasing the best NFL draft-eligible players from Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

Crossovr Collective is thrilled to be a part of such an important celebration of Black History Month in collaboration with the NFL Network. The company’s mission is to create compelling content that educates, inspires, and connects people, and they hope that viewers will enjoy watching the documentary and other Black History Month programming.
