LOS ANGELES September 8th, 2023 - Koshie Mills Presents Heirs Of Afrika 6th Annual International Women Of Power Awards. The star-studded affair celebrated 50 Years of Hip-Hop with an Electrifying Performance by Music Royalty Honoree, Iconic Rapper Dr. Yolanda “YO-YO” Whitaker. Ghanaian American Media Executive, Koshie Mills is the Founder and Executive Producer of the Heirs of Afrika International Women of Power Awards which was held on August 27th in Los Angeles.
Mills created the space to fulfill her intention to reconnect Africans on the continent with its global descendants in the diaspora. Illustrious black women of power from around the world who are thought leaders, trailblazers, and dynamic representations in their communities came together to foster cultural exchange.

The awards ceremony offered a three-course luncheon, live performances, and awards presentations with an African inflection. The Awards was hosted by Emmy and NAACP Award- winning Comedian and Actress Loni Love. The show commenced with an ancestral welcome from the powerful sounds of African drums and affirmations led by Loni Love echoing, ” I AM A DAUGHTER OF THE SOIL.” Grenadian Reggae artist, Thamara “Songbird “enchanted the audience with her mesmerizing voice.
Seven Women of Power from across various industries and around the globe were Honored: TINA LIFFORD – Warrior “Adinkrahene” Award, DR. YOLANDA “YO-YO WHITAKER – Music Royalty Award “Nsaa” Award, SADÉ MUHAMMAD – Lionheart Business “Akofena” Award, ARSEMA THOMAS – Rising Star “Nyansapo” Award, MARIELLE BOBO – Media Titan “Dame Dame” Award, HAMAMAT MONTIA – Heirs of Afrika “Sankofa” Award, SONIA TUCKER – Goddess Beauty “Duafe” Award.
Presenters included Actress Rutina Wesley, Reality Star, Chelsea Lazkani, Nigerian Actress Osas Ighodaro, Ghanaian Actress Juliet Ibrahim, CEO Kim Roxie, CEO Claire Sulmers.
Special Guests included Kwame Boakye, Kofi Siriboe, Kwesi Boakye, Malinda Williams, Vanessa Estelle Williams, Edwina Findley, Bozoma Saint John, Monique Coleman, and many others.
The Heirs Of Afrika Future Faces Ambassadors 2023 program selected three young women, Zeta Morrison, Kylie Jefferson and Kayla Clinton. 2023 Miss Heirs of Afrika was Sharon Nwosu.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass office presented Founder Koshie Mills and the Heirs of Afrika organization with a Certificate of recognition for dedicated service to the affairs of the community. Her office also recognized all the Honorees. The commendation was signed by Mayor Karen Bass.
